Job summary

Family Centered Support Services is seeking Casual Team Members to support Children and Young People in Residential Out-of-Home Care across rural properties in Queensland. You will engage with young people with challenging behaviours and help them achieve social, educational, cultural, and emotional goals.

The role includes creating activity plans, documenting progress, and coordinating with stakeholders. A 24-hour shift model and mandatory paid training in Brisbane are part of the onboarding.

Qualifications

• Must have strong written and verbal communication.
• Proven ability to document and report clearly.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and basic IT.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to a 24/7 shift model.

Responsibilities

About Us

At Family Centered Support Services, we provide a range of services to children, young people, and families, including respite care, in-home support, and residential out-of-home care. We believe children belong with their families whenever it is safe and possible, and we work closely with the Department of Child Safety and the families to address the root causes of challenging behaviours and support positive change.

About The Role

As a Team Member, you'll play a vital role in supporting Children and Young People living in Residential Out-of-Home Care at our therapeutic, rural properties, where we focus on a technology-reduced model of care. Your main responsibilities will include engaging with and supporting Children and Young People who exhibit challenging behaviours, helping them achieve their social, educational, cultural, and emotional goals. You'll also oversee their daily care.

Our mission is to equip Children and Young People with new coping strategies and pro-social behaviors to help them transition to a forever home.

Daily Tasks May Include

• Providing hands-on support in teaching life skills to our Young People, such as cooking, cleaning, budgeting, completing homework, personal care, booking and attending appointments, participating in sports, and engaging in schooling
• Developing support documentation, including Positive Behaviour Support Plans and progress reports
• Assessing and supporting the developmental progress of our Young People
• Liaising with and reporting to stakeholders to share information, contribute to planning, and ensure desired outcomes is achieved
• Creating activity plans and facilitating community engagement for the Young Person
• Safely supporting behaviours using Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) techniques

Essential Requirements

• Current Australian Driver's Licence (must be Open or P2)
• Minimum Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention or equivalent (or actively working towards it)
• Availability for shift work (24-hour model), including weekdays, weekends, and sleepovers as scheduled
• Approved Licensed Care Service (LSC) check through the department, or ability to obtain one
• Current Paid Blue Card or willingness to obtain one
• Current First Aid and CPR certificates, or willingness to obtain them
• Flexibility to meet the organisation's needs
• Ability to prioritise tasks and work under pressure to meet specific timeframes and targets
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including documentation, organization, and reporting
• Proficient computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office Suite
• Provide two recent professional references

Must be available to attend 8 days of mandatory paid training delivered across 2 weeks in Brisbane prior to commencement.
