Job summary

Hypar Wild Pty is seeking Residential Youth Workers to mentor and support young people with high to complex needs in a therapeutic home environment. The role involves building stable relationships, maintaining safety and consistency, and contributing to a positive care setting in South-East Queensland.

You will engage in activities, support health service access, perform daily household duties and document notes and incidents.

Qualifications

• Experience in residential youth care or similar setting.
• Experience with high to complex needs and trauma-informed approaches.
• Ability to establish and maintain professional boundaries with young people.

About the Opportunity

We're seeking Residential Youth Workers that will mentor and support our young people with high to complex needs and behaviours to have a stable, consistent and predictable home environment which is therapeutic and safe.

Responsibilities

• Planning, assisting and engaging in suitable activities with our young people
• Encourage our young people to make healthy lifestyle choices and access health care services
• Engage in domestic duties such as house cleaning, laundry, cooking meals, budgeting, shopping etc.
• Complete daily case notes, administration tasks and incident reports
• Work collaboratively within the house team to help our young people achieve their personal goals

Experience

• Training and/or experience in T2A (transition to adulthood), cultural awareness and trauma informed care
• Experience assisting young people with complex behaviours, including suicidal ideation and self harm
• Experience working in Residential Youth Care (ideally 2-3+ years) with an in-depth understanding of the child protection system
• Setting and maintaining strong professional boundaries

• The ideal candidate for this position will have:
• Emotional intelligence, initiative and flexibility to build strong relationships with our young people
• An understanding of trauma informed care
• The ability to maintain professionalism in high-pressure situations
• A high level of cultural awareness and an inclusive mindset
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proficiency with smart phones/computers
• The ability to work a variety of shifts across a 24/7 roster
• Solid understanding of the child protection system and a therapeutic background (highly regarded)
• Resilience, consistency and reliability, to ensure stability and high quality care is provided to our young people
