HomeCaring is seeking a compassionate Support Worker to provide in-home care for a 7-year-old child with complex medical and support needs in Queensland.
You will assist before and after school routines, support mobility and medical care, and respond to emergencies while maintaining a safe, engaging environment. Prior complex care experience is highly regarded.
We are seeking compassionate, confident and physically capable Support Workers to provide in-home support to a 7-year-old child with complex medical and support needs.
This role involves providing a safe, supportive and engaging environment before and after school, while assisting with daily routines, medical care, mobility and emotional regulation.
The child has complex medical needs, including Dravent Syndrome, seizures, asthma and enteral feeding requirements. Support Workers must be confident following individual care plans, managing mealtime requirements and responding appropriately to medical needs.
The role also involves supporting the child with emotional regulation, including accompanying him on extended walks with his wheelchair when required. As he can become escalated and may attempt to run or abscond, staff must be confident responding to these situations while maintaining safety.
This role would suit someone who is patient, proactive, physically fit and comfortable supporting a child with complex medical and behavioural needs. Experience in complex care, disability support or paediatric care would be highly regarded.
We are looking for someone who is reliable, patient and genuinely passionate about supporting children with complex needs.
The successful applicant will be confident working independently, able to follow detailed care plans and comfortable responding to changing situations throughout a shift.
Due to the nature of the role, applicants must be physically capable of supporting wheelchair mobility and accompanying the child on extended walks. They must also be comfortable responding to situations where the child may become escalated or attempt to run, while following established safety and behaviour support strategies.
To be considered for this role, applicants must have:
Experience with PEG feeding, nasal tube care, seizure management, asthma, mealtime management, manual handling and complex behaviours will be highly regarded.
Availability across a combination of these shifts is preferred.
This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a child's daily life by providing consistent, compassionate and high-quality support.
You will play an important role in helping the child feel safe, supported and engaged in his daily routines while working alongside a team committed to his wellbeing.
If you are reliable, confident and passionate about supporting children with complex needs, we would love to hear from you!
