Life Without Barriers Education is hiring a Youth Worker in Newcastle to support students’ wellbeing, engagement and learning in a safe, inclusive and trauma-informed setting. The role runs full-time, Monday to Friday, commencing January 2027, with campus staffing consisting of teachers and youth workers.

You will work with teaching staff to implement learning plans, run wellbeing initiatives, and build positive relationships with students and families, supported by probation and safety checks

Qualifikationen

• Qualifications in Education Support or Youth Work or equivalent experience.
• Experience engaging with young people with complex needs.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Current First Aid certification and a valid Australian driver’s licence.

As a Youth Worker, you will work alongside our teaching staff to support the wellbeing, engagement and learning for young people in a safe, inclusive and trauma-informed environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support student learning and engagement through in-class assistance, wellbeing programs, and individual learning plans.
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and trauma-informed environment, supporting cultural identity and diversity.
• Build positive relationships with young people and families to promote wellbeing and life skills.
• Collaborate with teachers, teams, and community agencies to provide integrated support.
• Participate in school routines, activities, and professional development.
• Maintain records and comply with child safety, organisational policies, and legal requirements.

Skills and Experience

• Relevant qualifications in Education Support, Youth Work or similar and/or equivalent experience e.g. cultural and community knowledge and experience
• Demonstrated experience engaging and supporting young people with complex needs, their families and communities, to foster young people’s engagement in learning
• High level communication skills including the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with young people, families and communities
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to provide and support a range of wellbeing and engagement programs and activities.
• Current First Aid certification
• Current unrestricted Australian Driver’s Licence and ability to drive 12 seat vehicles.

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and NSW Working with Children check.
