Job summary

Life Without Barriers Education Limited in Newcastle is expanding for 2027, inviting applications for two Teacher positions. You will deliver engaging, flexible learning for young people who have disengaged or are at risk, working with Youth Workers to support transitions and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Education are required.
• Active NESA accreditation or ability to obtain (per NSW guidelines).
• Experience designing flexible learning for disengaged students.
• Ability to differentiate instruction for neurodivergent learners.
• Strong communication with students, families and stakeholders.
• First Aid certification or willingness to obtain before start.
• Valid Australian driver's licence to drive 12-seat vehicles.

Life Without Barriers Education is a wholly owned subsidiary of Life Without Barriers and is comprised of a network of schools supporting young people to re-engage in education by providing high school aged students with inclusive and flexible learning options.

Role: Teacher - Life Without Barriers Education(x2)

Campus Staffing: 4Teachers, 2 Youth Workers

It's an exciting time for our Newcastle campus! With continued interest in enrolments, we're expanding to include a second class in 2027, creating new opportunities to support more young people in their education.

In this role, you'll deliver engaging and flexible learning opportunities for young people who have disengaged or are at risk of disengaging from education. Working closely with our Youth Workers, you'll create an inclusive, culturally responsive and trauma-informed learning environment where students feel supported to reconnect with education and thrive.

Each class supports up to 15-20 students, with a dedicated team of 1-2 Teachers and Youth Workers working together to provide personalised learning and support.

You'll work with families, carers and community agencies to advocate for students, support successful transitions and maintain a safe, supportive and compliant learning environment.

Support for this role is provided by the NSW School Principal, Administration Officer, and the National Life Without Barriers Education team

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging learning programs, including integrated, applied, and project based learning, literacy and numeracy support, and individual learning plans.
• Create an inclusive, culturally responsive environment that supports wellbeing, engagement, and strong community connections.
• Apply trauma-informed and therapeutic practices to manage behaviours and promote positive outcomes for young people.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with young people and their families, supporting participation, life skills, and cultural identity.
• Work collaboratively with teams and external agencies to provide coordinated support and smooth transitions.
• Maintain accurate records, meet compliance requirements, and actively contribute to professional development and a safe, supportive learning environment.

Skills and Experience

• Tertiary qualifications in Education
• Active NESA accreditation or ability to obtain (per 2024 NSW Teacher Accreditation Manual).
• Proven expertise in designing and delivering a variety of flexible learning options tailored to the diverse needs, characteristics, and learning styles of young people who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from education.
• Skilled in differentiating instruction and adapting approaches to support neurodivergent learners as needed.
• High level communication skills including the ability to build and maintain good working relationships with young people, families and internal and external stakeholders
• Current Provide First Aid (HLTAID011) certification or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
• Current unrestricted Australian Driver's Licence and ability to drive 12 seat vehicles.

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and NSW Working with Children check.
