Job summary

NextGen Children and Youth Services – Brisbane QLD is hiring casual Youth Workers to support children, young people and families across Brisbane and the Gold Coast. You will travel between sites, attend visits, and provide in-home and community support with flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends.

The role requires a current Queensland blue card, a valid driver's licence and a reliable vehicle, plus First Aid/CPR or willingness to obtain them.

Qualifications

• Current Queensland blue card or application underway.
• Full driver’s licence and a reliable, registered vehicle.
• First Aid and CPR or willingness to obtain them.
• Experience with children, young people or families in child safety, youth work or related fields.
• Qualification in Community Services, Youth Work, or Child, Youth and Family Intervention is highly regarded.
• Strong written notes for case files and reports.
• Calm, reliable and confident working independently.

Responsibilities

• Work one-on-one with children, young people and families across Brisbane and Gold Coast.
• Support supervised family contact visits and transport to contacts, school and appointments.
• Deliver in-home and community support and STA/short-term accommodation shifts.
• Provide emergency accommodation support as needed.
• Write clear, accurate case notes after every shift.

Casual Youth Worker – Gold Coast & Brisbane

NextGen Children and Youth Services works alongside the Queensland Department of Child Safety to support children, young people and families.

We’re looking for more casual Youth Workers to join the team.

About the role

You’ll work one-on-one with children, young people and families across:

• Supervised family contact visits
• Transporting children and young people to contact, school, appointments and activities
• In-home and community support
• Respite and short-term accommodation (STA) shifts
• Emergency accommodation support
• Writing clear, accurate case notes after every shift

Things change at the last minute.

Shifts can be added, moved or cancelled at short notice, sometimes on the day. You need to be flexible and able to roll with it.

You must be happy to drive everywhere between Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

You could be in Brisbane one day and on the Gold Coast the next, and often both in the same day. If you only want work close to home, this role won’t suit you.

Shifts can include early mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays.

What you’ll need
