CASPA SERVICES LTD - POSITION VACANCY - Therapeutic Care Worker – Far North Coast, NSW

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is an excellent opportunity for Youth Workers with experience working with children, young people and families to join the CASPA Therapeutic Care Team on a Casual basis.

This is an amazing opportunity for you to join a dedicated team supporting children in a structured and nurturing environment, working closely with our experienced House Coordinator and current staff, ensuring you have all the guidance and assistance you need to step into a role with a well-set routine that promotes stability and consistency, making your integration smooth and effective. We give preference to applicants who can work for a minimum of four shifts per week. These shifts will cover all types of shifts throughout our 24/7 roster, including day, evening, night, weekends, and public holidays by agreement.

Working with young people, you will help create a homely environment following the therapeutic framework and support plans for individualised care. You will be supporting young people to attain their educational goals, undertake extracurricular activities in line with their interests and support their connection to community and family. With a variation of young people, we provide successful applicants, who may not have prior experience, with life skills, education, and training to achieve positive outcomes for our young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Form and maintain professional, nurturing relationships with children and young people by building trust through visible interest and active engagement
  • Act as an appropriate adult role model, seeking to engage young people in purposeful activities aimed at developing life skills and self-worth
  • Support the involvement of family and where applicable, facilitate family visits/connections and the promotion of positive family relationships with children and young people, to suit individual needs
  • Promote and encourage positive relationships with peers and other persons significant to the child/young person
  • Assist the child/young person to participate as fully as possible in making decisions about the activities undertaken
  • Demonstrate an empathic understanding of complex trauma, incorporating this understanding into everyday interactions, as well as responding to pain-based behaviour in a sensitive and non-punitive way.

Skills & Experience

  • You must either hold or be actively working towards a formal qualification in allied health, community services, or family support. A Certificate IV or higher is required.
  • Staff must also maintain a current state or territory driver's license and keep it on hand whenever they drive a vehicle.
  • For staff who do not hold a current state or territory licence please refer to the relevant state or territory licencing laws and regulations
  • Valid First Aid and CPR Certification. Must be obtained at your own cost.

Our programs include Therapeutic Intensive Residential Care, Intensive Family Preservation, Therapeutic Foster Care, Restoration, and other associated care types, we are a registered NDIS provider and operate a social enterprise Maintenance and repairs business.
