Job summary

Wesley Mission Queensland Limited is seeking a Youth Support Officer to help deliver services and activities for young people aged 12-17 across Gold Coast Hubs. The role includes developing and facilitating structured school holiday programs and supporting access to community hubs.

You will work with the team to engage young people, coordinate with stakeholders, and provide admin support while commuting to various Youth Hubs across the Gold Coast and during Queensland school holidays.

Qualifications

• Qualifications in Human Services or a related field (or working towards).
• Experience delivering programs/services to young people.
• Ability to work both in a team and independently.
• Willingness to commute to Youth Hubs across the Gold Coast and work during school holidays.
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination status as required by policy/legislation.
• Current Driver’s Licence and willingness to travel for work.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and facilitating structured activities and workshops, especially during school holidays.
• Support the community to access Youth Hubs and supervise as required.
• Provide administrative support to senior team members.
• Engage and maintain professional relationships with young people and stakeholders.
• Coordinate with youth service providers regarding access and use of the Youth Hub.

Job description

The Youth Support Officer will assist in the delivery of services and activities to the community and in particular to young people aged 12-17 years covering all Gold Coast Hubs. This will include the development and facilitation of structured school holiday activity programs for young people.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assisting in the development and facilitation of structured activities and workshops, in particular throughout the school holiday periods.
• Supporting and assisting the community to access Gold Coast Youth Hubs as a community and supervise as required.
• Providing administrative and other support to senior team members,
• Engaging and sustaining effective and professional relationships with the young people accessing the programs.
• Cooperating, liaising and negotiating with key stakeholders and youth service providers in relation to access and use of the Youth hub.

What We’re Looking For

• Qualifications in Human Services or a related field (or working towards) and /or extensive experience working in the Community Sector.
• Experience in program service delivery to young people.
• Ability to function both as part of a team and autonomously with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to commute to our Youth Hubs across the Gold Coast and to work during Queensland school holidays.
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination status (or as required by legislation and WMQ policy)
• Relevant probity checks required by legislation and WMQ Limited policy.
