Job summary

Department of Education – Barwon Downs VIC invites applications for a Youth Programs Officer (YPO) in the South-West Victoria Region, School Performance Division. This VPS4 full-time fixed-term role runs until 19 November 2027.

The YPO will co-manage the exemption from school applications, support schools with policy compliance, and advise regional leadership on outcomes. The role can be based at any SWVR office location and requires collaboration and proactive stakeholder engagement to drive

About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists to join the South-West Victoria Region, School Performance Division as the Youth Programs Officer (YPO). This VPS4 role is for a Full time-fixed term period until 19 November 2027.

The primary responsibilities of this role are to:

• Co-manage the exemption from school application process, including processing of applications, preparing exemption correspondence and following up with schools and pathway providers;
• Support schools to comply with the exemption from school policy and liaise with schools, TAFEs and RTOs around exemption requirements to help them follow processes;
• collaborate with area staff and provide advice to senior regional leadership on recommended application outcomes.
• Work as a member of a multidisciplinary team to support the implementation of government/departmental reform projects and policy relating to effective youth pathways and 0-18 transitions.
