Job summary

Flourish Australia, delivering headspace Bankstown’s youth mental health services, invites applications for a Peer Worker. This closed-term part-time position (45.6 hours/fortnight) is based in Bankstown with flexible days Mon–Thu. Earn hourly rates of $40.49–$43.42 plus 12% super and tax‑free salary packaging.

You will use lived experience of mental health to mentor others, support recovery goals, and work within a recovery‑focused team, in a supportive workplace.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV or above in a relevant field OR a minimum of 2-years full-time experience in human services.
• Personal lived experience of a mental health issue.
• Strong commitment to recovery-based practice in the workplace.
• Alignment to Flourish Australia’s values.
• Understanding of, and ability to effectively use, Microsoft Office and knowledge of data information management systems.
• Maintain a current Australian Driver’s Licence.

About headspace

headspace provides early intervention mental health services to young people aged 12-25.As a Peer Workerwith headspace Bankstown, your own life experience of a mental health issue and personal recovery will provide a distinct advantage as you mentor and support people with lived experience of a mental health issue. You will be required to use this lived experience openly, appropriately and effectively to build professional relationships with the people you support that also have a lived experience of a mental health issue.

On a day to day basis, you will:

• Ensure that individual support is provided to a person that accesses Flourish Australia services thatmeet their recovery journey goals and is strengths based and led by the person wherever possible.

Selection Criteria

• A Certificate IV or above in a relevant field OR a minimum of 2-years full-time experience working in the human services field (as recognised by Flourish Australia).

• A personal lived experience of a mental health issue and recovery.

• A strong commitment to recovery-based practice in the workplace

• Demonstrated alignment to Flourish Australia’s values.

• Understanding of, and ability to effectively use, Microsoft Office and knowledge of data information management systems.

• Maintain a current Australian Driver’s Licence.
