Job summary

Stride in Armstrong Creek, VIC, seeks a part-time, non-clinical support worker to help young people and adults engage with mental health services. You will review needs, provide information, and support clients to achieve independence within a recovery framework.

The role requires a Cert IV in Community Services (or higher), WWCC/NDIS screening eligibility, and a valid driver’s license. Flexible, supportive team environment and opportunities for training are offered.

Qualifications

  • Cert IV in Community Services or higher; degree level considered.
  • Experience or lived experience with mental illness is valued.
  • Knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and respectful communication.
  • Experience with people experiencing mental illness and recovery-focused practice.
  • Ability to apply recovery-oriented, person-centred, strengths-based approaches.
  • Ability to facilitate capacity-building activities.
  • Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
  • WWCC eligibility and willingness to apply for NDIS worker screening.
  • Current valid driver’s license with access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Provide regular, flexible, low-level non-clinical support to service users.
  • Review client needs and resources and monitor activities in Support Plans.
  • Enable client independence through information, training and support.
  • Record time, sign off client activity, input journal entries and case notes.
  • Offer sensitive, client-focused information and advocacy within recovery.
  • Attend Communities of Practice and participate in professional development.

Role Overview:
  • Provide regular, flexible, low level non-clinical support to service users, and assist them to review their needs and resources, monitor activities identified in client Support Plans.
  • Enable clients to achieve independence as far as possible in all areas of their life by providing appropriate information, opportunity, training and support
  • Routinely perform Outcome Measures, and other data collection.
  • Effective use of Supportability including self-management of rosters, record time and sign off of client activity, input journal entries and case notes.
  • Provide support (that is sensitive, client focused and community orientated), advocacy and information to our clients with the use of the recovery process
  • Attendance and participation in Communities of Practice, professional development and Critical incident management activities.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of a Cert IV in a Community services related discipline (ideally a completed Bachelors or Diploma).
  • To haveexperienced a mental illness which is now under effective management or lived experience of caring for someone having gone through mental illness.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders Culture and the ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Indigenous Clients.
  • Experience, skills and knowledge in working with people experiencing mental illness.
  • Understanding of and ability to apply the principles of a recovery-oriented, person-centered, and strengths-based approach to service delivery.
  • Ability to implement and facilitate capacity building activities with participants.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and work independently.
  • Capacity to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team across a range of organisations.
  • Must be eligible to apply/currently hold a WWCC
  • Must hold/be willing to apply for NDIS worker screening clearance
  • Current driver's license with a good driving history and a registered, well-maintained vehicle that is available to be used for the purposes of this role.
