Job summary

Youth Justice and Victim Support in Brisbane is seeking a Cook to support the Kitchen Supervisor and team in delivering nutritious meals for young people in care, staff, and reintegration activities. The role focuses on food preparation, hygiene, and contributing to a safe, inclusive kitchen environment.

You'll work to maintain stock, assist with ordering, and supervise kitchenhands as part of a small commercial kitchen team. Closing date: 12 November 2026.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and provide nutritious and varied meals to clients and staff.
• Contribute to an environment that reflects normalised living and working situations for young people.
• Adhere to the security and safety of operational procedures and standards as they impact on kitchen processes and procedure.
• Maintain a hygienic, safe and secure working environment, including cleanliness of work areas and kitchen equipment.
• Prepare requisition orders and assist in the purchase of kitchen and food related stores and provisions and maintain stock control, e.g. stock takes.
• Supervise kitchenhands and participate in day-to-day operations of the kitchen.
• Maintain working knowledge of equipment used within a small commercial kitchen environment.
