Make a lasting impact on young lives

Are you passionate about empowering young people to thrive in education and life? Join a dynamic team at the Bondi Centre’s Early Psychosis Program (EPP), where you’ll help young people navigate their educational journeys while supporting their mental health and wellbeing.

We’re looking for someone with a background in education, social work, occupational therapy, or disability support to lead the implementation of the Individual Placement and Support – Education (IPS-ed) program. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative, community-focused environment and wants to make a real difference.

What you’ll be doing
  • Support young people to re-engage with school, TAFE, university, or other study pathways.
  • Help them manage homework, access student supports, and attend appointments.
  • Build strong relationships with education providers and community organisations.
  • Advocate for marginalised youth and connect them with meaningful opportunities.
  • Promote youth mental health and wellbeing through training and outreach.
  • Work closely with clinicians, families, carers, and external partners.

As part of the EPP team, the Youth Education Specialist works intensively with young people experiencing a range of mental health issues, providing them with support to stay in or continue their education. This involves assertive outreach work, combined with excellent youth engagement skills, to ensure young people are well supported and are linked to suitable education opportunities.

What you’ll bring
  • Experience working with young people in education, health, or community settings.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A commitment to inclusion, empowerment, and youth mental health.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of an innovative program supported by the Mindgardens Neuroscience Network, where your work will directly contribute to improving outcomes for young people experiencing mental health challenges.

Based in South Eastern Sydney, Mindgardens is revolutionising the care and support of people with mental health, neurological, and alcohol and drug disorders with the combined strengths of four founding member organisations: SESLHD, UNSW Sydney, NeuRA and the Black Dog Institute. This unique and highly concentrated hub of expertise, spanning clinical, research, service design and system innovations, connects community care and hospital systems to deliver quality and comprehensive health services throughout NSW.

The role is initially for 12 months, though there is potential for extension.

For more information we encourage you to contact Lyndall Truran on lyndall.truran@health.nsw.gov.au

Interviews are expected to be held between 13 October 2025 and 17 October 2025.
