Job summary

The Shire of Capel is seeking a Casual Youth Development Program Officer to support and deliver youth programs, initiatives and activities across the Shire. The role focuses on participation, wellbeing and positive outcomes for young people, including facilitating activities and events and supporting the Dalyellup Library & Youth Hub.

Applicants should have a Certificate IV in Youth Work or equivalent, plus relevant experience with young people, safeguarding knowledge and a WA driving licence.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Youth Work or higher with substantial youth practice content.
• Experience working with young people in youth, recreation, community, education or related settings.
• Knowledge of child safeguarding and duty of care.

Job Description

The Youth Development Program Officer supports the delivery of youth development programs, initiatives and activities across the Shire that promote participation, wellbeing and positive outcomes for young people.

The role assists in creating safe, inclusive and engaging environments for young people through the facilitation of programs, events and activities, including supporting the operation and activation of the Dalyellup Library & Youth Hub.

• Certificate IV in Youth Work, or an equivalent or higher qualification in youth work, community services, social work or a closely related field with substantial youth practice content.

• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Knowledge of child safeguarding, duty of care and appropriate professional boundaries when working with young people.
• Ability to follow procedures and contribute to a safe working environment.
• Current Working with Children Check.
• Current WA C Class Driver's Licence.

Experience facilitating youth programs, activities or events will be highly regarded.
