Job summary

Milburn Creek Stud in the Southern Highlands is seeking an experienced groom to join the yearling team and prepare quality drafts for major Australian sales. You will handle, exercise, groom, and present yearlings daily, maintaining high welfare and meticulous presentation.

Work closely with the stud, veterinary and farriery support to ensure top care and a pristine stable environment. The role offers on-farm accommodation and a supportive, professional team culture.

Qualifications

• Experience with thoroughbred horses or ability to handle young horses on the ground.
• Excellent attention to detail and pride in presenting horses at their best.
• Reliable, professional, and works well within a team.
• Good communication and accurate record keeping.
• Commitment to horse welfare and individual care.

Working as part of our experienced yearling team, you will be involved in the preparation of our quality drafts of yearlings for the major Australian Yearling Sales.

• Daily handling, exercising, leading and presentation of yearlings.
• Grooming , washing and sales preparation.
• Care and maintenance of horses to a high standard.
• Working closely with the wider stud, veterinary and farriery support.
• Maintaining high standard of stable and yard presentation.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a proven experience with thoroughbred horses or is confident handling young horses on the ground.
• Has excellent attention to detail.
• Takes pride at presenting horses at their very best.
• Is reliable, professional and works well in a team.
• Has good communication and record keeping skills.
• Understands the importance of horse welfare and individual care.
• Has a positive, energetic attitude and a strong work ethic.
