Job summary

Express Cargo Services is seeking a proactive Yard Hand (Forklift Operator) for our Brisbane Sumner facility. You will join a high-performing team ensuring shipments move through the depot safely and efficiently for our clients.

Responsibilities include loading/unloading, trailer checks, and depot maintenance, with a focus on safety and the ability to work autonomously. Prior forklift experience across multiple tonnages is required.

Qualifications

• Forklift Licence (LF) is mandatory.
• Physically fit and able to perform manual handling.
• Experience loading/unloading semi-trailers and containers.
• Ability to work flexible hours.
• Strong safety awareness in a logistics environment.

Responsibilities

• Loading and unloading vehicles into and from the depot.
• Perform checks on trailers and dollies before departure to ensure compliance.
• Maintain the fleet via greasing, washing, and securing equipment.
• Keep the depot, yard, and warehouse clean and orderly.
• Assist with delivering trucks, trailers, and dollies to repair/cleaning suppliers.
• Ensure compliance with safety, CoR, load restraint, and HVNL at state authorities.
• Report faults with equipment promptly.
• Record non-conformances, incidents, and changes.
• Assist drivers assembling trailers and dollies.
• Carry out extra duties as directed by management.

ECS Project logistics are seeking an energetic and experienced Yard Hand (Forklift Operator) to join our team at our Brisbane (Sumner) Facility.

You will become part of a high preforming team ensuring all shipments move through the depot seamlessly and with care in order to provide the best service to our clients in a timely, efficient and safe manner.

The position requires an experienced operator who has proven experience working operating various forklifts (1t, 3.5t & 16t) and has sound knowledge of freight handling.

To be successful in this role you will possess the following mandatory skills and attributes.

Forklift Licence (LF)

Physically fit and willing to do manual handling

Ability to work flexible hours

Experience in load and unloading semi-trailers and containers

Well-developed focus on safety within a logistics environment

Ability to work autonomously.

Ability to keep the depot in a tidy and safe condition

Ability to assist interstate drivers with loading and securing loads

Yard Hand Duties

• Loading and unloading vehicles coming into and leaving the depot
• Perform checks on trailers and dollies prior to departure to ensure vehicles and trailing equipment are compliant
• Maintain the fleet which includes but not limited to greasing, washing and ensuring the appropriate binders and chains are allocated to trailers
• Ensure the depot, yard, and warehouse are maintained in a clean and orderly condition
• Assist with the delivery of trucks, trailers and dollies to repair and cleaning suppliers
• Ensure regulatory compliance with safety, CoR, load restraint, state roads authorities and Heavy Vehicle National Laws (HVNL)
• Report any faults with equipment in a timely manner
• Report non-conformances, incidents, and unplanned changes
• Assist drivers assembling trailers and dollies
• Carry out extra duties as required and as directed by the manager
