Job summary

Colac Otway Shire Council is seeking a Workshop Supervisor to lead the day-to-day operations of our mechanical workshop, overseeing a diverse fleet of heavy plant, trucks and light vehicles. This hands-on leadership role combines technical expertise with team supervision, planning, safety and operational coordination.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in Diesel Mechanics or Heavy Vehicle Mechanics.
• Strong experience in mechanical workshop operations and maintenance environments.
• Demonstrated experience supervising staff or leading workshop activities.
• Knowledge of heavy plant, trucks, light fleet and associated equipment.
• Experience coordinating servicing and preventative maintenance programs.
• Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements within workshop environments.
• Experience using fleet maintenance or workshop management systems.
• Strong communication, organisational and customer service skills.
• Current Victorian Driver Licence.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily, weekly and monthly maintenance programs.
• Supervise workshop staff and apprentices.
• Schedule servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance activities.
• Manage workshop inventory, parts and consumables.

Colac Otway Shire Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Workshop Supervisor to lead the day-to-day operations of our mechanical workshop and play a critical role in keeping Council's fleet, heavy plant and equipment safe, reliable and operational.

This is a hands‑on leadership opportunity where you'll combine your technical expertise with team supervision, planning, safety and operational coordination.

About the Role

Reporting to the Team Leader Fleet and Workshop, you will coordinate workshop activities that support a diverse fleet of heavy plant, trucks, light vehicles and associated equipment. • Strong experience in mechanical workshop operations and maintenance environments
• Demonstrated experience supervising staff or leading workshop activities
• Knowledge of heavy plant, trucks, light fleet and associated equipment
• Experience coordinating servicing and preventative maintenance programs
• Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements within workshop environments
• Experience using fleet maintenance or workshop management systems
• Strong communication, organisational and customer service skills
• A current Victorian Driver Licence
