Job summary

Lockheed Martin Australia invites applications for a Senior Workshop Manager to lead the aircraft maintenance workshop, coordinating operations, budgets and schedules while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

You will bridge project management, planning, and the maintenance team, partnering with the Maintenance Operations Manager to deliver on ongoing projects and develop staff in a fast-paced, technically demanding environment on site in New South Wales.

Qualifications

  • Extensive aviation maintenance experience in a leadership role.
  • Deep understanding of aviation safety, maintenance, planning and quality systems.
  • MH60-R “C” Endorsement or ability to obtain quickly.
  • Tertiary education and/or proven leadership capability in quality/management.
  • Strong communication and cross‑departmental collaboration skills.
  • Proven track record solving technical challenges within budget and schedule constraints.

  • Drive Quality & Compliance across the workshop.
  • Provide Technical Leadership to the Maintenance team.
  • Ensure maintenance practices conform to published procedures and industry standards.
  • Champion Safety & Well‑being across the department.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance Operations Manager on project status, budgets and schedules.
  • Oversee the MRO technical training programme and staff development.
  • Lead and contribute to technical investigations and reports.
  • Manage contractor and field repair teams for performance and compliance.

A senior Workshop Manager role has just opened – a pivotal position that coordinates all operational aspects of our ongoing projects while leading the workshop department. You will bridge project management, planning, line management, and the maintenance team to ensure seamless delivery and uncompromised safety.

Key to this role is partnering with the Maintenance Operations Manager to monitor project status, budgets, schedules and to produce concise status reports.

This position will assist the Maintenance operations Manager in overseeing the status of projects and budgets; managing schedules and preparation of status reports. Conducts performance and personnel related issues of MRO/Workshop staff.

Key responsibilities
  • Drive Quality & Compliance – Uphold the highest maintenance and quality standards across the workshop.
  • Technical Leadership – Provide expert technical guidance and advice to the Maintenance Operations Manager.
  • Process & Procedure Assurance – Ensure all MRO methods and maintenance practices conform to published procedures, instructions, and industry best practice.
  • Safety & Well‑being Leadership – Champion ESH/WHS compliance across the department.
  • Regulatory Coordination – Support the SAAL DASR 145 Maintenance Organisation Exposition (MOE) and Sikorsky Australia Maintenance Manual – Nowra (SAMM‑N) obligations.
  • Training & Development – Oversee the MRO technical training programme, nominate and coach personnel for training delivery.
  • Technical Investigations – Lead and contribute to all investigative reports.
  • Contractor & Field Repair Management – Manage contractor working parties and field repair teams, ensuring performance and compliance.
What you'll bring
  • Extensive Aviation Maintenance Experience – Demonstrated hands‑on and leadership experience in a maintenance environment.
  • Regulatory Proficiency – Deep understanding of aviation safety, maintenance, planning, and quality systems.
  • MH60‑R “C” Endorsed MAML – Current endorsement or the capability to obtain it quickly.
  • Leadership & Management Skills – Tertiary education and/or proven capability in leadership, quality, management, or a closely aligned discipline is highly desirable.
  • Strong Communication & Inter‑departmental Dynamics – Ability to liaise effectively across departments and drive collaborative solutions.
  • Problem‑Solving & Decision Making – Proven track record of tackling technical challenges and delivering results on time and within budget.
