Job summary

Rapid Equipment Hire is seeking a hands‑on leader to take the reins of the Kunda Park workshop and daily management of our fleet and maintenance team. You will drive service quality, oversee fleet readiness and report to the Branch Manager in a fast-paced coastal operation.

Suitable candidates bring proven workshop leadership, a fitter/mechanic background, and strong troubleshooting skills to support ongoing maintenance and strategy delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a large workshop and managing maintenance teams.
• Proven mechanical troubleshooting ability.
• Fitter or mechanical trade background.
• Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team to achieve service and equipment quality targets.
• Maintain fleet equipment and service vehicles per policy.
• Support breakdowns and scheduled maintenance as required.
• Plan the workshop operations to maximize fleet availability.
• Contribute to branch performance as part of the Rapid Equipment Hire team.
• Support delivery of business strategies.
• Collaborate with Branch Manager and support functions to meet targets.
• Develop the skills and capability of the workshop team.
• Ensure safety practices align with procedures.

Responsibilities:

We are searching for the right person to provide outstanding leadership and direction to our Kunda Park maintenance function, supporting and reporting to, the Branch Manager.

• Leading and managing a team of people to achieve service & equipment quality targets
• Maintaining Rapid Equipment Hire fleet equipment and service vehicles in accordance with company policy and procedures
• Providing support to breakdowns and scheduled maintenance as required
• Operational effectiveness and planning of the workshop to maximise available fleet ready for our customers
• Contributing to the overall performance of the branch as a member of the Rapid Equipment Hire team
• Support and delivery of business strategies
• Working collaboratively with the Branch Manager and support functions to deliver set targets
• Develop the skills and capability of branch workshop team
• Ensure all practices are safe and in line with our procedures

To Succeed you will need:

• Knowledge of a wide range of equipment
• Familiarity with large workshop operations and managing people
• Proven mechanical troubleshooting acumen
• Fitter or Mechanical trade background
• Familiarity with working in a face paced environment
