Job summary

Hutcheon & Pearce in Bowral, NSW, is seeking a hands-on Workshop Foreman to lead a high-performing workshop team. You will balance leadership with practical repairs on agricultural and construction machinery, spending about 70% on the tools and 30% on coordinating operations to keep the day-to-day running smoothly.

You’ll mentor technicians, address customer concerns, and drive safe, efficient service using John Deere diagnostic tools.

Qualifications

• Lead and develop technicians and apprentices to build a high-performing team.
• Coordinate day-to-day workshop activities, servicing, and repairs for safe, efficient operations.
• Identify opportunities to improve workflow, efficiency and revenue.
• Perform servicing and repairs on agricultural and construction machinery.
• Diagnose faults using John Deere diagnostic tools and ensure accurate documentation.

Responsibilities

• Support the Service Manager in training and mentoring technicians and apprentices.
• Coordinate workshop priorities and manage daily workflows.
• Ensure safety, quality and timely completion of jobs.
• Diagnose and repair machinery in-field and in-workshop locations as needed.
• Handle customer concerns and escalate issues when required.

Job description

We're looking for a hands-on Workshop Foreman to join our Bowral dealership. Nestled in the picturesque Southern Highlands, Bowral offers a fantastic lifestyle, a strong sense of community, and deep agricultural roots.

As Workshop Foreman, you'll lead a high-performing workshop team, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently, and providing exceptional customer service to our diverse customer base.

This role is ideally suited to someone who enjoys a mix of leadership and practical mobile equipment repairs, servicing and pre-deliveries. You'll spend around 70% of your time on the tools and 30% overseeing workshop operations, supporting technicians, coordinating priorities, and keeping the day-to-day running smoothly. One minute you'll be in the workshop, the next out in the field, solving problems and supporting customers.

You’ll be

• Supporting the Service Manager in training, mentoring, and developing technicians and apprentices of all experience levels to build a high-performing team
• Coordinating day-to-day workshop activities, servicing, and repair work to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality operations.
• Identifying opportunities to improve workflow, efficiency, and revenue.
• Performing servicing, repairs, and maintenance on agricultural and construction machinery.
• Diagnosing, interpreting and resolving machine faults with precision using John Deere diagnostic tools.
• Reviewing and finalising job cards to ensure accurate documentation.
• Managing customer concerns, address complaints and escalated issues to the Service Manager where required.

You’ll bring

• Trade qualification in Heavy Vehicle or Diesel Mechanics
• Proven leadership experience, with a passion for coaching and developing teams
• 5+ years’ service experience and strong technical expertise
• A resilient, organised approach to work
• Strong customer service and communication skills

Experience in agriculture and/or with John Deere equipment is an advantage, but not essential.
