  • Internal move creates this opportunity for you - If you are someone who enjoys connecting the dots, improving how we work and translating strategy into practical solutions, keep reading.
  • Enjoy genuine variety across operational ER, people risk, compliance and enterprise-wide improvement initiatives.
  • Take your ER experience into a broader, more strategic role spanning compliance, change and transformation.
  • Thrive in a high-performance, high-expectation environment where quality, pace and commercial judgement matter.
  • Flexibility to be based out of the Brisbane, Perth, Sydney, Canberra or Melbourne CBD office

Who are we?

We are Mallesons. The top-tier independent firm from Australia, a full-service firm trusted on the most complex and consequential matters across our region and around the world. We've been part of Australia's story for almost 200 years and acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the traditional owners and custodians of these lands and waters.

Our independence gives us the flexibility to combine our extensive top tier full-service capability with the best advisers in every market. With deep expertise, collective judgment and genuine collaboration, we cut through complexity so our clients can move forward with confidence and make more happen.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced employee relations professional to join our People & Development team. This is not a traditional, case-management-focused ER role. Sitting within our Workplace Experience team and reporting to the Perth based Head of P&D Workplace Experience, you will work across employee relations, compliance and organisational change, helping the firm respond to evolving regulatory obligations while improving the everyday experience of our people.

Working closely with the Employee Relations & Compliance Manager, you will support the operational delivery of our ER and compliance priorities while also contributing to broader transformation and continuous improvement initiatives. This includes using data and emerging insights to identify risks, strengthen controls and influence how our policies, systems and processes evolve.

With new technology, AI and automation creating significant opportunities in this space, you will have the chance to help shape new solutions from the ground up, including contributing to the development of our ER case management approach and supporting the effective use of compliance data across the firm.

This is a varied and highly visible opportunity within an area of increasing focus for the firm. You will gain exposure to ER, compliance, risk, change and transformation work at an enterprise level, while helping to shape how our workplace practices and systems continue to evolve.

About You

Offering greater breadth than a traditional ER position and a balance of operational delivery and strategic improvement work you will gain exposure to enterprise-wide stakeholders and initiatives. To set you up for success, you will bring strong employee relations or industrial relations experience, together with an interest in how compliance, systems, data and organisational change can create a better workplace experience.

You will also bring:

  • Experience working in employee relations, industrial relations, workplace compliance, safety or a related people advisory role.
  • A sound understanding of employment legislation, regulatory obligations, workplace policy and people risk.
  • An interest in change, transformation and continuous improvement within an ER or IR environment.
  • The ability to interpret complex requirements and translate them into practical, accessible guidance.
  • Strong analytical skills and an interest in using data to identify trends, risks and opportunities.
  • Experience working across complex organisations and partnering with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to influence through clear advice and sound judgement.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach, with the ability to balance operational priorities and longer-term improvement initiatives.
  • Experience contributing to projects, system implementation, automation or process improvement, will be looked on favourably.

Please note internally this role is called Workplace Experience Consultant
