About the role

Full time permanent position based in either North Ryde, NSW or Parkville, VIC. This position is ideal for an advisor-level professional looking to take the next step in their career.

If you are eager to build on your experience, develop new skills, and take on increased responsibilities, this role offers a great opportunity for career progression. Reporting directly to the General Manager Quality and Business Services, you will be responsible for:

  • Updating, monitoring and managing Dementia Australia’s comprehensive health and safety management system.
  • Providing expert advice and support in investigating accidents, incidents, and issues, working with managers and engaging with WHS regulators to ensure compliance and safety.
  • Collaborating with managers to audit and promote safe working practices, fostering a proactive safety culture throughout the organisation.
  • Maintaining and enhancing WHS documentation, reporting systems, and feedback mechanisms related to client and workplace incidents, hazard identification, and complaints management.
  • Partnering with the People & Culture team to provide guidance on injury management, incident investigation, and return-to-work processes, in line with national and state legislation.
  • Supporting teams in conducting site and program audits, workplace inspections, and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with fire safety, evacuation protocols, and other safety requirements.
  • Leading WHS education initiatives, including emergency response training, business continuity planning, and disaster recovery strategies to ensure readiness and resilience.
  • Administering risk management software, developing WHS content for internal communications, and ensuring continuous improvement through data analysis, trend reporting, and compliance with statutory obligations.

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone with the following:

  • Tertiary qualification in environmental and work health and safety or a similar discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience working in a WHS management capacity.
  • Demonstrated application of WHS principles and relevant legislation nationally, across multiple jurisdictions with a demonstrated understanding of enterprise implications.
  • Experience working with WHS / risk management software systems including demonstrated data extraction, analysis and related trend reporting writing to various audiences.
  • Maintain a high standard of practice through risk management and governance.
  • Use professional judgement to make considered, ethical and courageous decisions influenced by data and quality information.
