Job summary

Jacaranda Finance Pty Ltd in Brisbane is seeking a Website Developer to join our Technology team. You’ll own the ongoing development and maintenance of our main WordPress site and affiliated brand sites, translating designs into fast, responsive experiences.

You'll work across front-end and back-end, optimize performance, security and technical SEO, and build tools to help us ship faster. This is an on-site role based in Brisbane.

Qualifications

• Strong WordPress skills with theme and plugin development.
• HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP/MySQL experience.
• Linux/command line proficiency; DNS and security understanding.
• Experience with Git, Chrome DevTools and VSCode or similar.

Responsibilities

• Developing, maintaining and improving our WordPress websites.
• Customising and optimising WordPress themes and plugins.
• Turning designs and mockups into responsive, functional websites.
• Managing website hosting, DNS, domains and SSL.
• Maintaining website security, performance and stability.
• Improving technical SEO/AEO, including audits, redirects and structured data.
• Supporting landing pages, A/B testing, tracking and conversion optimisation.
• Managing website analytics and tracking data.
• Using AI tools responsibly to support development and troubleshooting.
• Making and documenting technical decisions independently.
• Building tools and processes that help us ship faster.
• Troubleshooting issues and providing technical support when required.

Job description

This is an on-site role - you must be based in Brisbane.

We're building what's next at Jacaranda Finance, and we're looking for a Website Developer to join our Technology team and be part of it.

Reporting to our Head of Technology and working closely with our Technology and Growth teams, you'll help build, maintain and continuously improve Jacaranda Finance's main WordPress website and affiliated brand sites.

We're not looking for someone who simply waits for a list of website updates. We're looking for someone who enjoys getting into the details, solving problems, making technical decisions and finding better ways to make our digital experiences faster, simpler and more effective.

You'll work across front-end and back-end development, turning designs and ideas into responsive, high-performing websites that support our customers and our growth.

The opportunity

You'll take ownership of the ongoing design, development and maintenance of our websites, working closely with the teams around you to turn mockups, wireframes and ideas into functional digital experiences.

You'll help improve performance, security and technical SEO, troubleshoot issues, customise our WordPress environment and contribute to how our websites evolve as Jacaranda grows.

You'll be responsible for:

What you'll bring

• Strong WordPress skills, including theme and plugin development.
• HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP/MySQL experience.
• Linux / command line proficiency.
• Understanding of networking, DNS and WordPress security.
• Experience with Git, Chrome Developer Tools and VSCode or similar.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• The ability to work autonomously, prioritise and communicate effectively.
• Acorn, Laravel and TypeScript experience would be highly valued.
• A willingness to learn, adapt and try better ways of working.

A relevant degree is welcome, but equivalent practical experience is equally relevant.

Before you apply

We're a predominantly in-office business because we believe collaboration, coaching and problem-solving happen best when we work side by side. During probation, you'll work from our Milton office five days per week. Following successful completion of probation, you'll have the flexibility to work from home one day per week.
