Job summary

Castle & Cubby designs and builds custom timber play equipment and cubby houses for schools and learning centres around Melbourne. We are growing and seeking several skilled hands to join our Bayswater workshop team.

You will work across the full assembly process—from CNC to hand finishing and spray painting—learning every stage of how a product is made. The role rewards hands-on work, curiosity, and room for growth as the business expands.

Qualifications

• Solid hands-on experience in woodworking, joinery, assembly, set building, or shopfitting.
• High attention to detail and pride in quality work.
• Comfortable working with machinery (CNC, docking saws) and hand tools, with training provided on our specific equipment.
• A genuine interest in process, product, and continuous improvement — you'll have real input into how we do things.
• A team-first attitude: supportive, direct, no drama.
• Bonus: experience with inventory/stock management.

Responsibilities

• Work across the full assembly process from CNC through to hand finishing and spray painting.
• You’ll understand every stage of how a product gets made, start to finish.
• Contribute ideas to product development and process improvements.
• Keep stock and materials organized as part of the job.
