Job summary

The Wine Group is seeking an organized Winemaker to support planning, scheduling and delivery of day-to-day winemaking operations at our Loxton North winery in South Australia. You will work closely with winemaking, cellar and production teams to ensure work is planned, communicated and completed safely, efficiently and to required quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in Wine Science or equivalent.
  • Highly proficient computer skills.
  • Right to work in Australia.
  • Ability to work extended/rotating shifts and weekends during the Vintage period.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate and undertake daily winemaking operations in consultation with the Winemaking team.
  • Schedule and prioritise work to meet day-to-day production requirements.
  • Involve in all aspects of vintage operations from grape receival to finished product.
  • Prepare and manage wine and juice to required specifications and storage parameters.
  • Assist with oak planning, scheduling and tracking; manage blending programs and dispatch prep.

About the role

Reporting to the Senior Winemaker, this role is responsible for supporting the planning, scheduling and delivery of day‑to‑day winemaking operations across wine and juice production. You will work closely with the Winemaking, Cellar and Production teams to help ensure work is planned, communicated and completed safely, efficiently and to required quality standards.

What you’ll be doing
  • Planning, coordinating and undertaking daily winemaking operations in consultation with the Winemaking team;
  • Scheduling and prioritizing work to ensure day‑to‑day production requirements are achieved on time;
  • Actively involved in all aspects of vintage operations, from grape receival and processing through to finished product;
  • Preparing, monitoring and managing wine and juice to required specifications and storage parameters;
  • Assisting with oak planning, scheduling and tracking;
  • Managing blending programs and final dispatch preparation;
  • Contributing to winery projects, trials and research and development activities;
  • Working closely with cellar and production staff to communicate priorities and support workflow; and
  • Supporting contract customer services and maintaining strong internal and external relationships.

What you’ll bring

Appropriate tertiary qualifications in Wine Science or equivalent are essential, along with highly proficient computer skills. To be considered for this ongoing role, applicants must have the right to work in Australia.

Working requirements

Applicants must be available and willing to work extended shifts, rotating shifts and weekends during the Vintage period.
