Job summary

FairWind seeks a skilled Service Technician to maintain, fault-find and commission wind turbines in the Warrnambool region. The role focuses on hands-on servicing of electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems, with emphasis on safety and quality reporting.

Ideal applicants will have wind-energy field experience, training in high work environments, and a proactive approach to professional growth within a rapidly expanding APAC operation.

Qualifications

• GWO Advanced Rescue Training is required.
• Annual LVR/CPR/First Aid certification is required.
• Lift Manufacturers Training for site equipment (Tractel, Hailo, Power Climber) is preferred.
• HV switching experience is advantageous.
• State-specific qualified electrician (VIC, NSW, SA, QLD) is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on wind turbines.
• Diagnose and resolve faults in electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
• Assist in commissioning new wind turbines, ensuring compliance with operational standards.
• Complete and maintain documentation for quality assurance and compliance purposes.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders, team members, and management to coordinate tasks.
• Adapt to changing project needs and demonstrate flexibility in handling diverse responsibilities.
• Expand skill sets and take on additional responsibilities as part of ongoing professional growth.

Job description

We are seeking Expressions of Interest for a skilled and dedicated Service Technician to join our team, responsible for the maintenance, fault finding, and commissioning of wind turbines in the Warrnambool area.

This is a service-focused position, requiring expertise in systems and platforms. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in wind turbine systems, with hands-on experience in servicing, troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components.

This role demands adaptability, attention to detail, and the ability to work in challenging environments, often at heights and in varying weather conditions.

Excellent problem-solving skills and strong communication abilities are essential for effective coordination and reporting. This position offers the opportunity to be at the forefront of renewable energy technology, making a significant impact on the transition to sustainable energy solutions in the APAC region.

Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you must meet the following requirements:

• GWO & GWO Advanced Rescue Training
• Annual LVR/CPR/First Aid certification
• Lift Manufacturers Training for site equipment (Tractel, Hailo, Power Climber)
• HV switching and experience
• State-specific qualified electrician (VIC, NSW, SA, QLD)(desired not essential)
• Manufacturer training for torque tools and hoists
• Annual training on working at heights and WTG access
• Valid Construction White Card
• Hytorc/hydraulic torque and tensioning safety training
