Job summary

Taronga Zoo Sydney is seeking an experienced Veterinary Officer to join our Education team. You will lead wildlife veterinary education, drive outreach programs and support professional development to strengthen veterinary capability and animal welfare across NSW.

Responsibilities include regional training delivery, establishing partnerships with clinics and government bodies, and providing clinical leadership to inform education programs. A hybrid work model and generous benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Veterinary Medicine or equivalent.
• Eligible for registration with the NSW Veterinary Surgeon's Board.
• Experience in zoo and wildlife medicine and animal welfare principles.
• Experience sharing specialist veterinary knowledge and building capability through coaching or training.
• Proven ability to build productive stakeholder relationships.
• Ability to travel across NSW for program delivery.
• Current unrestricted Australian driver's licence.
• Willingness to obtain NSW Working with Children Check.

Responsibilities

• Lead the adaptation, development, delivery and improvement of wildlife veterinary education and outreach programs.
• Deliver regional training and professional development to strengthen veterinary knowledge and practice.
• Establish relationships with veterinary clinics, wildlife groups and government agencies to support outcomes.
• Provide professional and clinical leadership to guide education programs and initiatives.
• Ensure education activities meet stakeholder and funding requirements and are evaluated for impact.
• Lead program objectives, measurements and reporting within time and budget constraints.
• Develop new education and workforce initiatives to enhance impact and sustainability.
• Contribute to design and growth of training products and partnerships.
