Job summary

Zoos SA is seeking a maintenance-focused candidate to support Monarto Safari Park and Wild Africa sites. You will undertake construction duties, and routine and reactive maintenance of animal habitat and general asset infrastructure, on a 7-day roster.

The role requires a broad range of maintenance skills, WH&S knowledge, and the ability to work with trades personnel to keep facilities safe and compliant. A valid SA licence is desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience assisting trades in a facility management environment.
• Broad maintenance skills across carpentry, metalwork, plumbing, electrical, painting.
• Strong WH&S knowledge.
• Valid SA driver’s licence; manual preferred.
• Experience with rural/property sites is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist trades personnel with repair, construction, fabrication and demolition.
• General maintenance of animal and asset infrastructure to high standards.
• Carry out minor maintenance with minimal supervision.
• Maintain vehicles, plant and equipment, including fueling and tire checks.
• Maintain roads and tracks.
• Transport items to and from the Zoo; rubbish and waste handling.
• Clean items such as vehicles, drains, gutters and equipment.
• Erect and maintain signage, bins, furniture, fences.
• Change light globes and tubes.
• Operate forklifts and other licensed heavy machinery.
• Identify and report maintenance defects.
