Job summary

WaterNSW is seeking 2x Fire Tower Operators (Casual) to join our Land Operations team at Nepean Depot. You will monitor, report and assist with bushfire operations during the season, with a 1 in 3 roster and on-site duties.

The role offers hybrid work options and supports professional development, with an hourly rate of $41.27 (casual loading) plus superannuation. You must hold an Advanced firefighter Certificate and a NSW Driver's Licence.

Qualifications

• Advanced firefighter Certificate or higher or equivalent experience in wildfire operations, firefighting or similar field-based roles.
• Experience in radio communication procedures and the ability to read maps accurately and give accurate bearings and landmarks.
• Ability to work a 1 in 3-week roster (7 days on/14 days off), including outside normal working hours required
• Able to travel to and knowledge of the local area, which includes Nepean, Avon, Appin, Bulli and Burragorang lookout
• Current NSW Drivers Licence

Responsibilities

• Ensure early detection and location of fires and report these without any time delay during the declared fire season.
• Support wildfire response operations through the provision of weather data, fire behaviour and other observations and tasks as necessary.
• Use WaterNSW communication systems and procedures to protect WaterNSW land assets and the environment.
• Monitor, collect data and recommend any actions on weather characteristics to protect WaterNSW land assets and the environment.
