Job summary

Thornton Engineering Australia, located in Geelong, is seeking skilled welders to join our workshop team of boilermakers and welders. Candidates should have MIG, TIG and other process experience, and the ability to interpret weld procedures to select appropriate consumables and settings.

Applicants should hold a Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication (Welder) and a valid driver's license. Forklift or DG licenses are encouraged.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication trade - Welder or equivalent.
• Adequate welding skills to pass welder qualification test.
• Experience with GMAW (MIG) welding is essential.
• Experience with GTAW (TIG), Flux-core and SMAW (Stick) is advantageous.
• Experience with stainless steel is advantageous.
• Ability to read and interpret WPS (welding procedure specification).
• Skilled in operating fabrication equipment and welding machines.
• Current & valid driver's license.
• Forklift, dogman (DG) and/or high-risk work licenses encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Interpret weld procedure specifications and determine consumables and variables.
• Operate and maintain measuring tools, power tools, hand tools and welding machines.
• Produce fabricated parts to required specifications while maintaining quality standards.

Job Description

Are you a trade qualified welder with extensive experience in GMAW (MIG), GTAW (TIG), (Flux-core) and/or SMAW (Stick)? If so, we want to hear from you! We are currently seeking skilled welders to join our team of boilermakers and welders at our workshops located in Corio.

As a welder with Thornton Engineering, you will report to the workshop supervisor and be responsible for interpreting weld procedure specifications to determine the necessary consumables and variables for the welding process, while maintaining our high-quality standards. I will also be responsible for operating and maintaining measuring tools, power tools, hand tools, and welding machines required to produce the fabricated parts.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication trade - Welder (or equivalent)

• Considerable experience in GMAW (MIG) welding
• Experience with other welding processes GTAW (TIG), (Flux-core) and or SMAW (Stick) is advantageous

• Current & valid driver's license
