Job Description

Are you a trade qualified welder with extensive experience in GMAW (MIG), GTAW (TIG), flux‑core and/or SMAW (Stick)? If so, we want to hear from you! We are currently seeking skilled welders to join our team of boilermakers and welders at our workshops located in Corio.

As a welder with Thornton Engineering, you will report to the workshop supervisor and be responsible for interpreting weld procedure specifications to determine the necessary consumables and variables for the welding process, while maintaining our high‑quality standards. You will also be responsible for operating and maintaining measuring tools, power tools, hand tools, and welding machines required to produce the fabricated parts.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication trade – Welder (or equivalent)
• Adequate welding skills to pass welder qualification test
• Considerable experience in GMAW (MIG) welding
• Experience with other welding processes GTAW (TIG), flux‑core and/or SMAW (Stick) is advantageous
• Experience with stainless steel is advantageous
• Ability to read and interpret WPS (welding procedure specification)
• Skilled in operating equipment used in fabrication
• Current & valid driver’s license
• Candidates with a forklift, dogman (DG) and/or high‑risk work licenses are encouraged to apply.
