Job summary

The Welder/Boilermaker role based in Geebung, Queensland, offers a salary of 110,000 plus super. You will deliver high-quality welding and boilermaking services, prepare materials, perform welding activities, and ensure quality assurance is maintained across projects.

Travel is required, including FIFO work on projects throughout Australia and the Pacific Islands, and you will report to the Site Manager while upholding safety standards and welfare of the team.

Qualifications

• General Construction Safety Card is mandatory.
• Australian-recognised Trade Certificate (Certificate III) in Welding/Boilermaking or related trade.
• High Risk Work qualifications including Working at Heights and Confined Space.
• Experience operating on elevated work platforms.

Responsibilities

• Perform TIG, MIG, Arc welding and other hot work.
• Undertake boilermaking tasks including surface prep and bolting/torque prep.
• Maintain weld logs, non-conformance reports and material records.
• Contribute to SWMS development and participate in safety meetings.
• Maintain plant and equipment; perform pre-start inspections and track operating hours.

REPORTS TO:Site Manager

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Welder/Boilermaker is responsible for delivering high-quality welding and boilermaking services. This role involves preparing materials for welding, carrying out welding activities, and undertaking associated quality assurance processes to ensure work is completed to the required standards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform hot work activities, including all forms of welding such as TIG, MIG, Arc, and Tungsten welding.
• Undertake boilermaking tasks, including the preparation of steel surfaces for welding and the preparation of materials for bolting and torqueing.
• Maintain quality assurance documentation, including weld logs, non-conformance reports, and material records.
• Uphold workplace health and safety standards by participating in Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) development, pre-start meetings, toolbox talks, and other WHS activities.
• Maintain plant and equipment to a high standard by conducting pre-start inspections, monitoring fuel and oil levels, reporting maintenance requirements, and keeping records of operating hours where required.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

• Trade qualifications in welding and/or boilermaking, with the ability to successfully complete specific weld procedures and welder qualification tests as required by the company's appointed Welding Supervisor or Inspector.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a small but busy team environment.
• Willingness and ability to travel as required, including participation in FIFO work on projects throughout Australia and the Pacific Islands.
• Sound written communication skills, with the ability to read, understand, and interpret written English.

MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE The successful candidate must possess:

• General Construction Safety Card.
• Australian-recognised Trade Certificate (minimum Certificate III) in Welding, Boilermaking, Sheet Metal Fabrication, or a related trade.
• High Risk Work qualifications, including Working at Heights and Confined Space certifications.
• Experience working from elevated work platforms.
