Job summary

Water Corporation in Northam, WA invites applicants to join as a Fabrication (Boilermaker/Welding) apprentice. Over four years you’ll gain hands-on experience, maintain and repair plant equipment, and learn to become a fully qualified tradesperson.

You’ll be mentored by industry leaders, earn a competitive wage that grows with your progress, and benefit from flexible arrangements including a 9-day fortnight and the option to work close to home rather than FIFO.

Qualifications

  • WA residents eligible; must have driver’s licence.
  • Completion of Year 12 (or Year 10 in some cases) and desire to pursue a trade.
  • Positive attitude, willing to learn and work safely.
  • Be able to perform physically demanding manual labour and some handling of dangerous goods during training.
  • Pre-apprenticeship is a bonus but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Carrying out planned maintenance at wastewater treatment plants.
  • Repairing machinery and replacing pumps and valves.
  • Gain skills to become a fully qualified tradesperson over four years.

About The Role

Based in Northam, this role offers a diverse and hands-on experience. One day, you might be carrying out planned maintenance at a wastewater treatment plant; the next, you could be repairing machinery or replacing pumps and valves.

Your Skills And Experience

For this role, we are looking for great talent with:

  • A WA 'C Class' Driver's Licence, or be actively working towards obtaining one.
  • Completion of Year 12 (or Year 10 in some cases) and a desire to pursue a trade.
  • A positive attitude and a strong willingness to learn.
  • A solid awareness of safety and a commitment to working safely.
  • Motivation, enthusiasm, and a genuine interest in hands-on work.
  • Comfortable performing physical tasks including manual labour, precision work in workshops or field environments, and some handling of dangerous goods (don't worry, we'll provide all the training you need to stay safe).
  • The ability to learn and eventually perform the full scope of work expected of a qualified tradesperson, with appropriate training and supervision.
  • A pre-apprenticeship is a bonus but not essential.

This position will commence in November 2025.
