Job summary

SA Health in Adelaide's Southern Adelaide Local Health Network is seeking an Allied Health Assistant to support patient care within the Rehabilitation, Aged and Palliative Care Division.

The role focuses on providing therapy support under supervision, assisting with transport, personal care and movement, and maintaining accurate documentation to help achieve better patient outcomes. Weekend duties are included at Repat Health Precinct.

Qualifications

• Eligible for or willing to undertake a Certificate 3 in Allied Health Assistance or equivalent
• Ability to work under close supervision and direction from Allied Health Professionals
• Ability to act responsibly in an emergency situation and perform pool rescue per division procedures
• Previous experience in patient care or with people with varying degrees of disability and/or backgrounds

Responsibilities

• Provide specific therapeutic interventions and assist with patient therapy under supervision
• Assist patients with transport, preparation, personal care, movement and therapy-related tasks
• Maintain accurate patient documentation and therapy databases
• Monitor patient responses to therapy and report to supervising Allied Health Professionals

• Salary $67,979.00 p.a. (Pro Rata) AHA2 | 0.3 FTE - Part Time Vacancy until August 2027
• Weekend role based at Repat Health Precinct, Lancaster Rehabilitation Ward

Join our Allied Health Team Join the Rehabilitation, Aged and Palliative Care (RAP) Division at the Repat Health Precinct and make a meaningful difference to patients as part of a supportive, multidisciplinary Allied Health team.

As an Allied Health Assistant, you will work alongside Allied Health Professionals to support patient care, promote independence and contribute to positive occupational and therapeutic outcomes.

About the role

Reporting to the Allied Health Inpatient Rehabilitation Manager and working under the direction of Allied Health Professionals, the Allied Health Assistant provides patient care and therapy support to assist patients in achieving greater independence and improved outcomes.

• Providing specific therapeutic interventions and assisting with patient therapy under the direction of Allied Health Professionals.
• Assisting patients with transport, preparation, personal care, movement and physical tasks associated with therapy interventions.
• Maintaining accurate patient documentation and therapy-related databases as directed.
• Monitoring patient responses to therapy and reporting relevant information to supervising Allied Health Professionals.

About you

• Must be eligible for or be willing to undertake a Certificate 3 in Allied Health Assistance or equivalent
• Ability to work under close supervision and direction from Allied Health Professionals
• Ability to act responsibly in an emergency situation, with an ability to competently undertake pool rescue protocol per the division’s procedures
• Previous relevant experience with patient care or experience working with people of varying degrees of disability and/or backgrounds
