Job summary

Careers at Council is seeking a Weeds Compliance Officer for a 12-month maternity leave replacement in the Blue Mountains region. The role combines environmental expertise, fieldwork, community engagement and regulatory decision‑making to protect natural values.

Responsibilities include inspections, collaboration with stakeholders, and enforcing under the Biosecurity Act. Applicants must hold a Certificate III in Conservation and Land Management (or similar), a Class C license, and AQF 3/4

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Conservation and Land Management (or similar)
• Class C license
• AQF 3/4 chemical accreditation
• Blue Mountains weed identification and weed management experience
• Strong interpersonal skills for daily public interaction
• Organizational expertise
• Strong computer skills and a commitment to WHS

Responsibilities

• Undertakes inspections across diverse land tenures.
• Collaborates with landholders, public authorities, contractors and internal teams.
• Supports enforcement under NSW Biosecurity Act 2015 where required.
• Identifies and responds to emerging weed threats.
• Maintains spatial and operational records.
• Shapes priority inspection programs.
• Provides practical advice to residents and stakeholders to support long-term biosecurity outcomes across the Blue Mountains region.
