The Purple Panda Agency in Australia is seeking a talented Web Designer to design and build high-performing websites on WordPress and Shopify. You will take projects from concept to launch, ensuring responsive, on-brand sites that convert and perform.

This hybrid role lets you work from home with 1–2 days per week in our South Hurstville office, collaborating with the marketing team and clients across diverse industries to deliver creative, scalable digital experiences.

Qualifications

• 2+ years' experience designing and building websites across WordPress and Shopify
• Strong portfolio of previous website work
• Strong understanding of UX/UI, responsive design and conversion-focused web design
• Experience with eCommerce functionality and third-party integrations
• Experience maintaining and updating existing WordPress and Shopify websites
• Attention to detail with typography, spacing and visual hierarchy

We’re on the hunt for a talented, passionate and highly creative Web Designer to join our team.

You’ll be responsible for designing and building creative, high-performing websites across both Shopify and WordPress, taking projects from initial concept through to build, testing and launch.

This role goes beyond making websites look good. You’ll be responsible for both the design and functionality of each site, ensuring every website is responsive, user-friendly, on-brand and built to achieve the best possible results for our clients.

You’ll also be responsible for ongoing website updates and maintenance across our portfolio of client websites, including content changes, new pages, functionality updates, troubleshooting and general site improvements.

We work with businesses across a huge range of industries, from eCommerce brands to service-based businesses, so no two projects are the same.

This is a flexible hybrid role, with the ability to work from home and attend our South Hurstville office 1–2 days per week.

Key Responsibilities:

• Designing and building engaging, responsive websites and landing pages across WordPress and Shopify
• Taking website projects from initial brief and concept through to build, testing and launch
• Creating custom page layouts and website assets that align with each client’s branding
• Managing ongoing website updates, maintenance and improvements across existing client websites
• Updating website content, imagery, products, pages, navigation and functionality as required
• Troubleshooting website issues and resolving bugs or functionality problems
• Optimising websites for speed, performance, usability and scalability
• Ensuring websites are fully responsive and functional across desktop, mobile and tablet
• Conducting thorough website testing prior to launch and following updates
• Applying web design, UX/UI and industry best practices throughout the design and development process
• Ensuring website functionality, integrations and third‑party applications are implemented correctly
• Working closely with our marketing team and clients to understand briefs, objectives, branding and customer journeys
• Liaising with external developers, contractors and other stakeholders where required
• Managing multiple website projects, updates and deadlines simultaneously
• Providing internal support and client communication throughout the website build, launch and ongoing maintenance process
• Identifying opportunities to continuously improve the design, functionality and performance of client websites

About You:

• Minimum 2 years' experience designing and building websites across both WordPress and Shopify
• A strong portfolio of previous website work
• Strong understanding of UX/UI principles, responsive design and conversion‑focused web design
• Strong understanding of both the aesthetic and functional requirements of a high‑performing website
• Experience with eCommerce functionality, Shopify apps, WordPress plugins and third‑party integrations is required
• Experience maintaining and updating existing WordPress and Shopify websites
• Strong attention to detail with an excellent eye for layout, typography, spacing and visual hierarchy
• Ability to translate a brand identity into a creative and cohesive digital experience
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Ability to confidently manage multiple projects and deadlines
• Proactive, solutions‑focused and comfortable troubleshooting website issues
• Able to work efficiently in a fast‑paced agency environment
• Strong communication skills and confidence liaising with both clients and internal team members
• Fast learner with the ability to adapt to new platforms, plugins, apps and technology
• A genuine desire to grow with the agency
• Experience with HTML and CSS is highly preferred
• Knowledge of SEO fundamentals and website performance optimisation is highly regarded
