Job summary

Navantia Australia Pty Ltd. is seeking a Waterfront Field Engineer (Mechanical) to join our Garden Island, Sydney team.

You will provide front-line engineering support for mechanical systems across Navantia-designed ships, coordinating maintenance, commissioning and design changes in collaboration with OEMs and local suppliers. The role requires strong communication, autonomous problem solving and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a high-pressure maritime

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Experience in engineering investigations, analysis and reporting.
• Proven track record in marine/defence sectors preferred.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and produce reports.
• Strong communication across levels and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide front-line engineering support for mechanical systems on Navantia-designed ships.
• Coordinate maintenance and repairs, design changes and commissioning activities.
• Engage with OEMs and local suppliers for problem resolution and optimisation.
• Analyse engineering Change Proposals, deviations and waivers.
• Oversee shipboard technical assurance activities including test and sea trials.
• Assist with safety, cost, schedule and quality in production tasks.
• Deliver results in a high-pressure environment and manage multiple tasks.
