Job summary

Redland City Council is seeking two Mechanical Trades Assistants to support the City Water team in maintaining water and wastewater assets across multiple sites and projects. You will work alongside experienced Mechanical Fitters, performing hands‑on maintenance, fabrication and installation tasks.

The role requires practical know‑how, physical fitness and a commitment to safety. A permanent, 9‑day fortnight arrangement offers outdoor, workshop and site work within Redlands Coast’s diverse

Qualifications

• Practical, reliable and safety‑focused approach.
• Experience in workshop, maintenance, utilities or similar hands‑on environment.
• Mechanical aptitude and confidence using hand and power tools.
• Experience assisting with maintenance, repair or installation activities.
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving.
• Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to workplace health and safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist Mechanical Fitters with the maintenance and repair of water and wastewater assets.
• Assist with the installation, commissioning and servicing of pumps and mechanical equipment.
• Carry out equipment greasing, cleaning, alignment and general maintenance activities.
• Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Undertake mowing, vegetation management and general upkeep of Council assets.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and support administrative activities as required.
