Job summary

Egis is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to deliver consultancy services across a diverse portfolio of projects locally, nationally and internationally. The role supports dam, drainage and flood-related studies, modelling, and water management plans.

The position can be based in Newcastle with flexible working arrangements, including remote options and opportunities to work across government, private and resource sectors.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ professional experience in water resources engineering within a consultancy.
  • Tertiary Engineering degree (Civil, Environmental).
  • CPEng and/or RPEQ (or willingness to obtain) is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of local Australian standards and statutory and regulatory requirements relating to civil design and water management.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage stakeholders at all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Assess water infrastructure (dams, levees, drainage) from strategic planning to design and operation.
  • Apply hydrologic and hydraulic flood modelling and water balance modelling to assessments.
  • Prepare Water Management Plans and deliver erosion and sediment control designs where needed.

As a Water Resources Engineer, your impact will be in providing consultancy and technical services to deliver innovative solutions across a diverse portfolio of projects locally, nationally and internationally.

Ideally this role will be based in our Newcastle office however we are open to candidates working in our Sydney and Norwest offices.

Job Description

You will be responsible for:

  • Assessment of water infrastructure (dams, levees, drainage works) from strategic planning to design and operation across a range of industries.
  • Application of technical fundamentals and flood modelling (hydrologic and hydraulic) and water balance modelling to a range of assessments
    • including: Flooding and Surface Water Impact Assessments; Water quality assessment; Watercourse diversion design, monitoring, and rehabilitation; Water Management Plans; Erosion and Sediment Control.
Qualifications

Ideally, you will have a minimum of 3+ years’ professional experience with demonstrated technical expertise in water resources engineering within a consultancy environment.

You will also have:

  • Relevant Tertiary Engineering degree (Civil, Environmental)
  • CPEng and/or RPEQ (or willingness to obtain) high desired
  • Strong knowledge and application of local standards, Australian standards and statutory and regulatory requirements relating to civil design and water management
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to manage stakeholders at all levels
  • Well-rounded critical thinking and problem-solving skills
