Job summary

Egis Group in Melbourne is seeking a Flooding & Stormwater Engineer to join the Victorian Stormwater and Flooding team. You will work on hydrological investigations, 1D/2D modelling and WSUD design across a diverse project portfolio locally and nationally.

The role emphasizes collaborative teamwork, client liaison, and delivering innovative flood solutions. A 2+ year track record in consulting and strong communication are required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2+ years’ professional experience in flooding and stormwater engineering within a consultancy environment.
  • A tertiary degree in civil engineering is essential.
  • Experience in recording technical data and preparing reports; strong written/verbal communication.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake flood studies, flood impact assessments and stormwater management plans.
  • Develop hydraulic and hydrological models.
  • Develop water balance and water quality treatment models.
  • Perform civil engineering calculations to support WSUD infrastructure design.
  • Prepare GIS databases and maps (QGIS, ArcGIS, or MapInfo).
  • Prepare technical reports documenting work.

Job Description

As a Flooding & Stormwater Engineer, your impact will be within the Victorian Stormwater and Flooding team. The team is a specialist group focusing on delivering solutions in the areas of hydrological investigations, 1D hydraulic modelling and 2D regional flood modelling and Water Sensitive Urban Design (constructed waterbodies, raingardens, etc). This is an opportunity to work within a passionate and well-established team to deliver innovative solutions across a diverse portfolio of projects - locally and nationally!

You will be responsible for:

  • Undertaking flood studies, flood impact assessments and stormwater management plans.
  • Development of hydraulic and hydrological models.
  • Development of water balance and water quality treatment models
  • Undertake civil engineering calculations to support the design of WSUD infrastructure.
  • Preparation of GIS databases and maps (utilising QGIS, ArcGIS, or MapInfo).
  • Preparing technical reports to document your work.
Qualifications

Ideally, you will have a minimum of 2+ years’ professional experience with demonstrated technical expertise in flooding and stormwater engineering within a consultancy environment. This is not a graduate entry position.

You will also have:

  • A tertiary degree in civil engineering, or similar (essential).
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team, with support from senior staff and colleagues.
  • Experience working in a consulting environment highly desirable.
  • Effective written and verbal communication; organisational and analytical skills.
  • Experience in recording technical data and preparing reports.
  • Experience in any of the following software will be considered favourably:
    • GIS software such as QGIS, ArcGIS or FME
    • The hydrology software RORB
    • The hydraulic software TUFLOW.
    • Water quality modelling software such as MUSIC.
