Job summary

Concentis, partnering with Gladstone Area Water Board (GAWB), seeks a Water Quality Officer to support scientific analysis and reporting across source waters, storages, treatment and distribution networks. You will validate data, assist investigations and contribute to the Drinking Water Quality Management Plan.

Reporting to the Senior Water Quality Specialist, you will work with operations, laboratories and contractors to ensure high-quality monitoring, documentation and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Ter tiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Science, Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Water industry or water quality monitoring experience.
• Experience in scientific, environmental, chemical, microbiological or water quality work.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with data interpretation and trend identification.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including data analysis, pivot tables and reporting.
• Technical report writing and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Support implementation and maintenance of water quality systems and procedures.
• Review laboratory, field and operational data to identify trends and anomalies.
• Assist with water quality investigations and incident response activities.
• Prepare accurate and concise reports for operations, management and regulators.
• Maintain monitoring records, action registers and compliance documentation.
• Support monitoring and reporting for the Fitzroy to Gladstone Pipeline.
• Extract, validate and analyse data to prepare management and regulatory reports with traceable records.
• Undertake sampling, field testing and monitoring across GAWB assets.
• Collaborate with operations, laboratories and contractors.

The Company Concentis is partnering with Gladstone Area Water Board (GAWB) to source a Water Quality Officer to

Join their Network Team to support the delivery of scientific, analytical and reporting that strengthens the effective management of water quality across GAWB’s water supply network and operational assets.

Gladstone Area Water Board (GAWB) is a commercial Statutory Authority constituted under the Water Act 2000 whose purpose is to supply bulk water to major consumers in the Gladstone Region. GAWB manages a variety of assets ranging from major water storage through to pump stations, pipelines, storage tanks and water treatment plants. It takes measures to protect the quantity and quality of present and future water supplies and provides, operates and maintains recreational facilities and fish fingerling production facilities and stocking programs. About the role:

Reporting to the Senior Water Quality Specialist, as the Water Quality Officer will provide scientific, analytical and reporting support across source waters, storages, treatment systems and distribution networks.

You will be responsible for validating and interpreting water quality data, supporting compliance obligations, assisting with investigations, and contributing to the ongoing management of GAWB's Drinking Water Quality Management Plan.

You key responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the implementation and maintenance of water quality systems and procedures
• Reviewing laboratory, field and operational data to identify trends, anomalies and emerging issues
• Assisting with water quality investigations and incident response activities
• Preparing accurate and concise reports for operational, management and regulatory purposes
• Maintaining monitoring records, action registers and compliance documentation
• Supporting water quality monitoring and reporting activities associated with the Fitzroy to Gladstone Pipeline
• Extract, validate and analyse water quality data to prepare accurate management, customer and regulatory reports and recommended actions while maintaining traceable records and supporting documentation
• Undertaking sampling, field testing and monitoring activities across GAWB assets
• Working collaboratively with operational teams, laboratories and contractors

Essential experience/capabilities:

• Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Science, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience
• Water industry or water quality monitoring experience
• Demonstrated experience in scientific, environmental, chemical, microbiological or water quality related work
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to interpret data and identify trends
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis, pivot tables and reporting
• Well developed technical report writing and documentation skills

Desirable experience:

• Knowledge of the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines (ADWG)
• Experience with SCADA systems, SwimLocal or water quality databases
• Experience using R for data analysis and reporting
• Recreational Marine Driver licence (RMDL)
