Job summary

Sequana Group, through Infrastructure Project Solutions (IPS), is seeking a Design Manager to coordinate the delivery of water and wastewater design documentation in Queensland. The role focuses on ensuring designs comply with contractual scope, standards, and program commitments.

You will work with Project Managers across civil, hydraulic, mechanical and structural disciplines, reporting progress, managing design changes, and supporting the project lifecycle from concept to construction while

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Environmental or related engineering.
• CPEng and RPEQ are preferred.
• White Card construction induction.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar water/wastewater utilities role.
• Experience planning and designing water and wastewater infrastructure.
• Experience with water authorities, councils and utilities.

WHAT YOU DO

The Design Manager, working closely with Project Managers across the business, is responsible for coordinating the delivery of engineering design documentation and drawings for the Queensland business, with a primary focus on water and wastewater network infrastructure. The Design Engineer will ensure designs are delivered in accordance with the contractual scope, relevant water industry specifications and Australian Standards, agreed project programme and budget, while protecting the interests and reputation of the client and Sequana Group.

Key Responsibilities

Co-ordinate and manage delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure designs in accordance with Sequana Group design and delivery procedures.

Coordinate multidisciplinary design inputs across civil, hydraulic, mechanical and structural disciplines to ensure integrated and practical design outcomes.

Report the progress of design activities to the Project Manager.

Capture any design changes required throughout the life of the project via the design change request (DCR) system.

Take ownership of the design activities within the contract program, ensuring that monthly updates are undertaken and liaising with the Project Manager and scheduler to ensure that the program is maintained in line with progress.

Ensure all design drawings/documents are reviewed by relevant engineers and that they are adequately documented for auditing purposes.

Ensure a safety in design process is followed by undertaking relevant design reviews.

Support the delivery of designs across the project lifecycle, from concept and preliminary design through to detailed design, tender and construction support.

Work closely with clients, water authorities, contractors and other stakeholders to resolve technical issues and ensure designs are practical, constructible and fit for purpose.

WHO YOU ARE

Bachelor’s degree qualification in Civil, Mechanical, Environmental or other relevant engineering discipline.

CPEng & RPEQ preferred.

General construction induction (White Card).

At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably within the water, wastewater or utilities sector.

Demonstrated experience in the planning and design of water and wastewater infrastructure.

Experience across water and sewer networks, pipelines, pump stations, reservoirs and other water utility assets.

Experience working with water authorities, councils, utilities, contractors and other infrastructure stakeholders is desirable.

Strong computer literacy and demonstrated competence in a variety of computer software packages, including MS Project.

Demonstrate strong technical understanding and have good verbal and written communication skills.

Possessing a positive and proactive approach toward teamwork.
