Northern Territory Government is seeking a Water Engagement Officer in Palmerston to lead stakeholder engagement and communications for water planning across the Territory. You will support the Adelaide River Water Allocation Plan and translate complex water concepts for a broad audience.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Water Engagement Officer to lead stakeholder engagement and communications activities supporting water planning across the Territory. This role will play a key part in developing the Adelaide River Water Allocation Plan, the NT’s first wetseason water allocation plan.
As the Water Engagement Officer, you will drive the water planning team’s stakeholder engagement program and help improve public understanding of water management across diverse audiences.
In this role, you will lead stakeholder engagement activities aligned with IAP2 principles and develop and deliver communication strategies that support water planning across the Northern Territory. You will build and maintain strong relationships with community, industry, government and Aboriginal stakeholders, and translate complex water management concepts into clear, accessible information for a range of audiences.
You will support consultation activities for the Adelaide River Water Allocation Plan and contribute to culturally informed engagement approaches that strengthen understanding, participation and collaboration in water planning across the Northern Territory.
To be successful in this role, you will have strong knowledge and experience delivering stakeholder engagement activities aligned with IAP2 principles, together with a sound understanding of cross-cultural engagement in the Northern Territory. You will bring well-developed analytical, problem-solving and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders and navigate complex issues.
A current C-class driver's licence, or the ability to obtain one, is required, along with a willingness to travel throughout the Northern Territory. Tertiary qualifications or relevant professional experience in project management, environmental science, communications or a related field will be highly regarded.
This position offers a competitive remuneration package, including 12% superannuation, six weeks of recreational leave, 3 paid Christmas shutdown days and 17.5% annual leave loading. Negotiable flexible work arrangements are available, and relocation assistance may also be offered.
