Job summary

South East Water Corporation is seeking an experienced WRP Operations Team Leader to guide a small team responsible for the safe and efficient operation of Water Recycling Plants across the Mornington Peninsula region.

You will lead operators, ensure EPA licence compliance, manage maintenance and after-hours roster, and drive safety and environmental outcomes while coordinating with contractors and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Engineering or Science qualification or recognised Wastewater Operations Management Course.
• 7+ years' experience in wastewater treatment or related industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of sewage and recycled water treatment processes.
• Experience leading or supervising operational teams.
• Commitment to workplace safety and risk management.
• Experience coordinating contractors and managing operational priorities.
• Knowledge of HACCP, ISO standards and environmental compliance requirements.
• Understanding of PLC/SCADA and process control systems.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management and leadership skills.
• Current Victorian Driver Licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and mentor a team of Water Recycling Plant Operators.
• Ensure plant operations comply with EPA licence conditions, environmental obligations and safety requirements.
• Champion a strong safety culture and proactively manage operational risks.
• Monitor treatment processes and respond to operational issues and plant performance challenges.
• Investigate plant performance issues and implement corrective actions.
• Coordinate and oversee maintenance activities and contractor works.
• Manage work permits and ensure safe work practices are followed.
• Participate in and support after-hours on-call arrangements.
• Contribute to emergency and incident response activities.
• Support workforce capability through training, development and knowledge sharing.
• Undertake hands-on operational activities when required.
• Participate in an after-hours roster as required.
