Job summary

The Shire of East Pilbara invites applications for a Waste Water Technician to join its team in Newman, WA. The role requires practical knowledge of OSH practices and the ability to work outdoors and in confined spaces, with relevant licences and certificates as listed.

You will operate maintenance plant and equipment, manage your own workload, and contribute to a team focused on service delivery and community outcomes.

Qualifications

• Minimum literacy and numeracy to Year 10 level.
• OSH practices for outdoor environments and confined spaces.
• WA C MR or HR driver’s licence.
• Certificates/licenses: Chemical Handling, Confined Spaces, Liquefied Chlorine Gas License, Breathing Apparatus.

Responsibilities

Do you have?

• Minimum demonstrated (English) literacy and numerical skills to Year 10 level
• Experience in the application of Occupational Safety and Health practices to working in an outdoor environment and in confined spaces
• Current WA ‘C’ and ‘MR’ or ‘HR’ driver’s licence
• Certificates/Licenses required for role (or willingness to obtain on commencement):

1. Chemical Handling
2. Working in Confined Spaces
3. Operating and Handling Liquefied Chlorine Gas License
4. Operate Breathing Apparatus

To be successful in this role, you will have ability to work without constant supervision and to plan and manage own work outputs. You will have basic records and document management skills and ability to use a range of maintenance plant, tools and equipment. You will have good oral communication skills with an ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
