Job summary

The Shire of East Pilbara invites applications for a Sports Officer to support community recreation across Newman and surrounding towns. Develop and deliver programs, coordinate activities and promote healthy living in line with Council priorities.

Qualifications include a relevant tertiary qualification in sports or recreation (or equivalent experience), plus strong customer service, administration and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Sports, Recreation, or related field or equivalent industry experience.
• Knowledge of the recreation industry, trends, programs and initiatives for local government and community.
• Sound knowledge of physical activity, community recreation and club development principles.
• Current Provide First Aid Certificate and CPR or ability to obtain.
• Current Working With Children Check in WA or ability to obtain.
• Current C Class Driver's Licence valid in WA.

Responsibilities

• Deliver recreation programs and initiatives in line with community needs and Council priorities.
• Coordinate events and activities across Newman, Marble Bar, Nullagine and surrounding towns.
• Provide high-quality administration, customer service and communication to the public.

Job description

BASE SALARY UP TO $88,697 p.a.

Do you have?

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Sports, Recreation, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
• Sound knowledge of the recreation industry, including trends, programs, and initiatives, and their implications to local government and the community.
• Sound knowledge of physical activity, community recreation, and club development principles and processes.
• Current Provide First Aid Certificate and Provide CPR or ability to obtain.
• Current Western Australian Working With Children Check or ability to obtain.
• Current ’C’ Class Drivers Licence valid in WA.

To be successful in this role, you will have sound computer skills, high-quality administration, customer service, and communication skills. You will have highly proven self-management, time management, and organisational skills. You will have effective interpersonal skills including facilitation and problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and in a team environment.
