Whitsunday Regional Council is seeking a proactive, motivated and skilled Waste Management Officer – Facilititos support the Coordinator Waste and Recycling Services in delivering the outcomes of Councils Regional Waste Management Strategy. This role is ideal for someone passionate about sustainability, operational excellence and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high quality customer service across Council’s Waste Management Services
  • Develop and implement engaging waste education and awareness programmes
  • Act as a key contact for operational waste management matters, including site audits and project support
  • Assist in the development and management of waste-related tenders and contracts
  • Support and supervise contractors across Council’s four main waste management sites
  • Implement Council’s Waste Management Strategy and associated action plans
Your skills and experience

Essential

  1. C Class Manual Drivers Licence
  2. General Construction Safety Induction (White Card)
  3. Demonstrated experience in waste management facility operations
  4. Tertiary qualifications relevant to waste management facility operations or extensive experience in management of contractors operating facilities
  5. Extensive knowledge of data management programs for waste management
  6. Demonstrated experience in managing contracts including experience writing contract specifications and coordinating procurement processes
  7. Ability to manage time, work independently balancing competing demands and capacity to adapt readily to change
  8. Well developed verbal communication skills including the ability to foster staff and community participating in the implementation of waste and resource recovery education programs and initiatives
Desirable
  1. Knowledge of waste collection operations
