Job summary

SMEC in NSW is seeking an experienced engineer with landfill design experience or a construction‑focused professional to deliver waste infrastructure projects. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, manage client relationships and drive service offerings across NSW.

With 4+ years of experience, you will contribute to landfill containment, capping, leachate and gas systems, transfer stations, and recycling facilities, while mentoring junior staff and supporting business growth.

Qualifications

• Environmental/Civil Engineering qualifications, or similar.
• 4+ years' experience in landfill and waste industry.
• Proven project management and client relationship capability.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Some site related work experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead landfill and waste infrastructure design projects (containment cells, capping, lining systems, transfer stations, organic processing facilities, leachate and gas infrastructure).
• Oversee construction phase services including contract administration and site supervision.
• Project management of waste infrastructure and related projects.
• Provide engineering input into waste infrastructure designs (landfills, MRFs, resource recovery centres).
• Build and maintain client relationships and support business development.
• Mentor and support junior team members.
