Job summary

Coldstream Park Warmblood Stud in the Yarra Valley is seeking an experienced stud hand to assist in all aspects of stud work and general horse care. The role requires living on the farm and prior horse work experience.

Responsibilities include feeding, rugging, assisting with veterinary tasks, and direct horse handling. Daily duties cover stable care, maintenance, and preparation of horses for sale or photoshoots, with potential tractor work.

Qualifications

• Experience with live on-farm horse care and handling.
• Ability to assist with veterinary and farrier work and basic medical treatments.
• Willingness to live on farm and work in a rural setting.

Responsibilities

• Daily feeding and water checks; rugging as required.
• Assist with vet, farrier, dentist, and physio as needed.
• Administer treatments, poultices, bandages; injectables as trained.
• Clean boxes and yards; keep barn and stables tidy.
• General farm maintenance: harrowing, fencing, slashing, round bale handling.
• Handle young stock, broodmares and stallions; assist with weaning.
• Move horses between stables and paddocks; assist with shows and photo shoots.

Coldstream Park Warmblood Stud – Coldstream VIC

Coldstream Park is a Boutique Warmblood Stud that is located in the Yarra Valley (1 hour from Melbourne). I am currently looking for an experienced stud hand to assist in all aspects of stud work including further handling and weaning 10 foals and general horse care , feeding horses and stable duties. This is a live on farm position do not apply if you cannot live on farm or have no previous horse work experience.Job Duties include, but are not limited to:Assisting vet, farrier, dentist, Physio.Daily feeding, checking water and rugging as required.Administering treatments and medications including injections, poulticing , bandaging wounds and anything else needed.Cleaning boxes and yards.Keeping the barn and stables tidy and clean.General farm maintenance, harrowing, fencing maintenance, slashing and putting out round bales . This can be done by someone else if you are not able to drive a tractor. Happy to train how to drive the tractor .Handling of young stock, broodmares and stallions. Assisting with weaning foals .Moving horses as required between stables and paddocks.Monitoring horses for nutritional and medical reasons.Helping to show horses for sale to clients and help do photo shoots of horses for saleBring in and out horses to be ridden and tacking up for rider .
