Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a Warehouse Assistant for the Christmas Cheer program in NSW, based in Raymond Terrace. This casual role averages ~3 days per week from October through February.

Responsibilities include loading/unloading, sorting and packing donated toys, and supporting volunteers while maintaining a safe work environment. Flexible arrangements and training opportunities are available.

Qualifications

  • Experience in customer service or community services industries.
  • Desirable: experience in recycling/transport.
  • Self-motivated with initiative and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Team player with a positive attitude.
  • Customer service-focused with good communication.
  • Solid level of computer literacy and basic bookkeeping.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills to interact with diverse people.

About the role

We are seeking a Warehouse Assistant to support the Christmas Cheer program in NSW. Reporting to the Doorways Regional Manager, this is a casual position based in Raymond Terrace, NSW.

Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Road Transport & Distribution Award - Distribution Facility Employee - Level 1.

This role is casual, average of 3 days per week from October to February.

How you will make an impact
  • General warehouse duties at the Christmas Cheer warehouse
  • Loading and unloading of vans / trucks
  • Moving, sorting and packing toys and other donated items
  • Assist the Doorways Regional Manager with directing and supporting the activities of volunteers
  • Maintaining a clean and safe workplace, in a high-flow environment
  • Report any hazards, near misses and incidents to Line Manager as soon as practicable, ensuring safety of all individuals, and ensuring adherence to TSA policy and procedures
  • Other duties as relevant to the role, as required by the Doorways Regional Manager
What you will bring
  • Experience in customer service or community services industries
  • Proven experience in the recycling/transport industry would be highly desirable
  • Self-motivated, high level of initiative and strong work ethic
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively

  • Solid level of computer literacy and basic bookkeeping
  • Sound presentation and communication skills (both oral and written) to be able to interact and network positively with a variety of people.
